After nine days of fashion-filled fun in Paris we are pleasantly overwhelmed with all of the new Spring/Summer 2013 collections.
- Stella McCartney stole my heart (as always); so classy yet still casual, so elegant and evocative…
- Kenzo designers (Carol Lim and Humberto Leon) climbed the fashion food chain-their show was set in an urban jungle with “psychedilic florals, growling lions and swirling patterns” – Luke Leitch
- Saint Laurent got a business makeover: they dropped the Yves and debuted Slimane’s first collection for SL. On a side note, those hip YSL t-shirts are now pointless…
Chloe– First Thing That Comes To Mind – Pocket lint. The nice fluffy stuff you find in your pocket that entertains you in French class. This collection gives me the warm fuzzies- like pocket lint. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Elie Saab– First Thing That Comes To Mind: Regal. If I could afford Saab’s gowns, I would buy one for every day of the week and wear it to school. The whole collection was very dignified. I’ve decided that for my wedding I’ll wear either Vera Wang or Elie Saab. 🙂 🙂
Chanel– First Thing That Comes To Mind: Tea parties. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Balmain– FTTCTM: 80’s Biker chicks from a neighboring planet… Or on a simpler scale, Biker chicks of the the future. 🙂 🙂
Kenzo– FTTCTM: Tarzan 3. If Disney came out with a Tarzan 3 where Tarzan and Jane colonized/urbanized ape island and developed a liking for high end fashion. That’s what I think of when I look at this Kenzo SS2013 collection. 🙂 🙂
Stella McCartney– FTTCTM: A rooftop garden. With the exquisite floral prints and assortment of sheer sleeves (which, by the way are a great transitional concept between the seasons) this collection whispers a cool spring welcome. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Saint Laurent- FTTCTM: The Mild Mild West or a Colonial Mid-West America (if there was such a thing). For Slimane’s debut SS2013 collection with SL we saw wide brim hats, a lot of tie collar blouses, and some chap-like pants (those cowboy pants made out of wool). This collection reminds me of those 3 hour western movies they show on TV land sometimes, you know the ones where you don’t really understand what’s going on, but by the end of the movie you just have to say “wow, that was a good movie”. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Hermes– FTTCTM: Hermes, the Greek god of commerce and transportation. When I look at Hermes’ SS2013 collection I I can see these pieces going places… 🙂 🙂
Valentino- FTTCTM: “Cosmic Love”, that song from Florence and the Machine’s Lungs album from two years ago. “No dawn, no day, im always in this twilight. In the shadow of your heart.” 🙂 🙂 🙂
🙂 – It’s classy enough, but it could be classier. Something I could possibly get away with wearing.
🙂 :)- It’s classy but not CRAZY classy.
🙂 🙂 :)- It’s CRAZY classy! Appropriate hem length, no cleavage or midriff sightings, not too tight. Perfect for a lady.
